GERD is a condition where stomach acid refluxes back in food-pipe. The symptoms include burning chest pain, regurgitation of food particles, change of voice, coughing etc.
An ulcer is a sore in the lining of the stomach or small intestine. It is caused by excess acid production. It causes pain, burning, bloating & occasional bleeding.
Fat deposition within liver is called fatty liver. It can cause swelling of liver, pain, feeling of fullness & reduced appetite.

Development of ulcer within the large intestine is called ulcerative colitis. Symptoms include increased stool frequency, urgency & blood in stool.
Similar to ulcerative colitis, crohn’s disease is a type of Inflammatory Bowel Disease. The symptoms include pain, diarrhoea, blood in stool & weight loss.
Endoscope is a small tube with camera passed down the food-pipe to examine the inner linings of food-pipe & stomach. It can also detect the valve & the hiatal hernia. The procedure takes 5 minutes.
pH metry is a test in which a probe is placed down the food pipe to monitor acid reflux. It has to be performed for 24 hours. After the completion of the test, the readings are taken and a score is generated which helps the GERD specialist understand the quantity & quality of acid reflux.
ERCP also called Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography, is a test by which the gastroenterologist performs therapeutic procedures such as stone removal & stent placement for the treatment of jaundice.
Endoscopic ultrasound is a test by which the stomach specialist can examine pancreas, bile duct & surrounding tissues. It can also help the gastro specialist to take biopsy.
