New Chemotherapy Method: HPIPAC Researchers have developed a novel approach called hyperthermic pressurized intraperitoneal aerosol chemotherapy (HPIPAC). This method combines heat and chemotherapy to target cancer cells more effectively. The study used a model that mimics the human abdominal cavity to test its impact on gastric cancer cells.

How Does HPIPAC Work? HPIPAC involves delivering heated chemotherapy drugs directly into the abdominal cavity. Immediately after treatment, the average cell viability was 66.6%. This decreased to 49.2% after 48 hours and further dropped to 19.6% after 120 hours. In contrast, traditional methods showed less effectiveness, with cell viability increasing over time.

The HPIPAC method could potentially enhance the effectiveness of chemotherapy, providing a new weapon in the fight against gastric cancer.
