Smokeless tobacco is still widely used, even though many countries try to reduce its use. A new global study looked at whether using smokeless tobacco leads to more cancer cases and deaths. It found strong links.

Researchers reviewed over 3,600 studies and included 80 of the most reliable ones. They found that people who use smokeless tobacco are more likely to die from cancer. The risk of death was higher for head and neck cancer, oral cancer, and stomach cancer. There were also more cancer cases in users, especially for pancreatic, stomach, and esophageal cancers.

The study shows that smokeless tobacco is not a safe alternative to smoking. It is harmful and can lead to serious health problems. Governments are being urged to create stricter rules to help people quit or avoid starting.

If you use smokeless tobacco, talk to a healthcare provider about quitting. There are programs and medicines that can help.
