There are various disorders, but during this article we shall talk about few e.g. acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis, hereditary pancreatitis, and pancreatic cancer.
Pancreatitis is a disease within which the pancreas becomes inflamed. It occurs when digestive enzymes become activated while still inside your pancreas, causing irritation and damage to pancreatic tissue and resulting in inflammation.
- Acute Pancreatitis:
Acute pancreatitis generally develops suddenly, and it has always a short-term (a few days to weeks) illness that typically resolves with appropriate medical supervision. It sometimes takes the form of very serious illness. may need operation in few patients to remove infection. Commonest causes are gallbladder stones & alcohol.
- Chronic Pancreatitis:
Chronic pancreatitis, which generally develops after multiple episodes of acute pancreatitis, is also a long-term situation which will last for months or even several years. The patients may develop stones within the pancreas. the situation may lead to diabetes & indigestion. Commonest cause is alcohol drinking.
Hereditary Pancreatitis (HP) may be a rare genetic condition characterized by recurrent episodes of pancreatitis attacks, which may end in chronic pancreatitis. Symptoms include abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. Onset of attacks typically occurs within the first twenty years of life, but can begin at any age. Hereditary pancreatitis has recently emerged as a really important pancreatic disease. Although relatively rare, this genetic disease has provided major breakthroughs in our understanding of acute and chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer.
Pancreatic cancer is the uncontrolled expansion of abnormal cells within the pancreas. Tumors develop, and these interfere with the way the pancreas works. pancreatic cancer is very difficult to detect within the early stages because symptoms are either absent or nonspecific. Pancreatic cancer often shows no symptoms until the later stages. For this reason, it should be difficult to manage.
